Our first speaker has finished...
I really liked those lesson with professor Skeel because he made them very easy, ( I heard that american people speak in a particular way that is not easy to understand...but that's not our case!).

Next week we'll have a professor from Uk...I'm really curious to see how he'll teach, ( Cambridge is a very famous school after all!).

I think that one of the most interesting thing in this course is that we can see how law is taught abroad, ( we live in a global society...I think that is very important to know something about the rest of the world!).

WELCOME!

At the Law Faculty of the RomaTre University there will be, for the second year, a "Law and Humanities" course (March-May 2009). It has been, and will also be in the future, an attempt to study law from a different perspective, or maybe, better, from many different perspectives.
The aim of this course, in fact, is not only to explore the fascinating, hopefully problematical interactions between Law and Literature, Law and Cinema, Law and Architecture and Law and Music, but also to carry out this investigation with the help of well known professors as well as PhD students, coming from all over the world. They will express themselves in the new "lingua franca", English, which is particularly suitable for a Law and Humanities course, as we only recently "imported" this field of study from the United States.
This blog will be the virtual place where students will find information about the course program, about the speakers c.v., about the suggested readings, about the final exam (which will consist in a little essay in English, that will be submitted and discussed in June or July).
Last year many students showed their interest commenting on the "Law and Humanities" blog (http://lawandhumanitiesroma3.blogspot.com/), continuing those stimulating debates that had begun during the lessons. This year each student will be asked to attend regularly the lessons and to take an active part to the debates, intervening during the classes and/or on the blog.
The pictures on the left and below show only some of the most famous characters created by writers and often reinvented by film directors that are inextricably connected with the legal world. Some of them were analysed during the lessons, others were "discovered" by the students in their essays: we hope next year's debates will be as exciting as they were last year!
